Who is Captain Random?
CAPTAIN RANDOM is a misfit, a runaway and the would-be saviour of the war torn planet of Rodas.
Once the jewel in crown of a part of the universe known as Ursa-17, Rodas was plunged into a never ending battle over the most fickle of reasons – the people’s of the planet were unable to make the colour purple! This was, in itself, ironic, considering the two races who lived upon its scared ground was red and blue coloured, but as the bitterness wore on, both sides were rechristened by their rulers, the CRIMSON EMPIRE and the SAPPHIRE REGIME. As the centuries flew by, with no winner in sight, rebels from both sides began to collaborate in an attempt to put an end to the bloodshed.
One night, a scientist called Blent and a former soldier named Niva met and with the best DNA from both sides combined in a laboratory, their dream to create the ultimate warrior came true…only things did not go as planned. A heli-fighter, one of the machines of destruction constructed by the Crimson Empire, crash landed in the lab at the crucial moment and as the warrior stepped out of his mechanical womb, Niva’s dying eyes glanced on their creation.
Before the mayhem stood a boy. Not a warrior. A strange-coloured boy.
Horrified by the world he was born into, terrified of the death and mayhem that surrounded him, he ran away and kept running, all the time two distinct voices in his head proclaiming him to be the saviour of Rodas, the almighty being who could put a stop to all the pain and suffering. With super strength and the speed of a bullet, he eludes the Crimson Empire and Sapphire Regime and fights to survive. But soon this boy, with a unique purple complexion, ran as far as he could, not ready to fulfill his destiny.
Along the way he is coerced into helping a man made of sand pilot a stolen luxury fighter called the VENUS II and befriends the robot on board, who is also held captive and resembles a skateboard in shape and look. Together, they lose the SANDMAN and become the first beings in centuries to escape Rodas.
But before long, they come across a green and blue planet in a solar system far, far away from theirs and accidentally interrupt two friends talking by a pond on a school trip by thoughtlessly crashing upside down into its murky depths. Not that they mind. The schoolkids, ANJI and JAKE, are bored of their mundane lives, both sharing a tragic past and wanting more than the dull confines of their orphanage can offer.
Soon, all the adventure of space was right on their doorstep. As they struggled to pass their new alien friend, who they name RANDOM, off as an ordinary boy, the Sandman returned to carry out his revenge on them…and life is never the same for them again!
Random, Anji, Jake and Skateboard set off for a number of fantastic adventures, from facing the Yarvesh, the eater of souls on the planet of Genocia, searching for the most powerful element in the galaxy on the colourful planet of Spectronia to fighting an evil cyborg hell bent on destroying the cosmos and wreaking revenge on Random and his friends, there is so much for young children and adults themselves to enjoy in the series.
The Captain Random universe is brought vividly to life by author HAYDEN GRIBBLE and artist ANTHONY MOORIN in astonishing detail. There have been three Captain Random published as of 2021, with more adventures in the pipeline!
